June 11th 2017
 

       Mundesley Lifeboat was paged at 14:21 to a vessel in difficulties off Mundesley Seafront. The vessel had 5 people and 3 dogs on board and was taking on water.

           ILB rendezvous with the casualty who at that time had made it back to the beach.   After liaising with Mundesley and Happisburgh coastguard safety advice was given and ILB escorted the vessel back to their launching slip at Vale Rd Trimingham.   After making sure the vessel was back on the beach and into the hands of the coastguard service, Mundesley Lifeboat stood down.

             Our volunteer water rescue team were again deployed to Walcott during the forecast tidal surge. Here the team again worked alongside the WEVA and HM Coastguard personnel. Taking instruction from the WEVA personnel, we were able to use our crew bus to take vulnerable and elderly local residents to the rest centre at the Lighthouse Pub. Later as high tide approached,our team, now fully kitted out in water rescue equipment, stood by for several hours in bitterly cold near gale force winds. Our 'Friends' support team were able to provide much needed hot drinks and refreshments to our crew. Thankfully, on this occasion while flooding occurred, it was less than in 2013.

Mundesley Lifeboat was paged to a swimmer in difficulties 200m from Mundesley Church. Lifeboat was stood down before launch as swimmer was rescued by local lifeguards.

 

 

7th August 2016

 

           Mundesley Lifeboat was paged to a report of 2 swimmers in difficulties off Bacton.   ILB was stood down before launch as the swimmers exited the water themselves.

 

 

6th August

Mundesley Lifeboat was paged to a report of a swimmer in difficulties off Mundesley.On arrival it was ascertained that the swimmer was a local long distance swimmer and no assistance was needed.
 

 

10th July
           Mundesley Lifeboat was paged to investigate a report of an injured male 3 groynes north of Vale Road slipway. Mundesley Lifeboat was first on scene and immediately deployed a medic to start first aid. The casualty had been wakeboarding and injured his back. Other units from Mundesley and Happisburgh coastguards and paramedics soon were on scene to assist and due to the casualties injury it was decided to airlift him by coastguard helicopter to the norfolk and norwich hospital. 
 
22nd June
Mundesley Lifeboat was paged alongside Happisburgh and Mundesley coastguard teams to a report of a person entering the water after a dog. ILB was stood down before launch
as dog and person self rescued.
6th June
Mundesley Lifeboat was tasked whilst out on training to a casualty with a broken arm at Vale Rd slipway, Trimingham. ILB landed and transferred our medic to start treatment
before Coastguard teams and paramedics from the East of England Ambulance service arrived.
Due to the location of the casualty the rescue helicopter from Humberside was requested and onwardly conveyed the casualty to the Norfolk and Norwch Hospital.
17th April

Mundesley Lifeboat was diverted from training to assist a 22ft yacht sailing towards Wells with a crew member suffering from seasickness this morning. The yacht was struggling in the wind over tide swell approximately 1 mile off Mundesley.

Mundesley Lifeboat stood alongside the vessel as it made the journey towards Cromer. As the yacht continued up the coast the tide changed and the swell started to die down. The yacht continued its passage and Mundesley Lifeboat was released by Humber Coastguard to continue training.

13 People Missing during Coastal marathon 31st October 

Mundesley Lifeboat was paged to assist members of Mundesley and Happisburgh Coastguard teams to a report of 13 missing runners in between Trimingham and Sea Palling. The runners were taking part in a coastal marathon and had not checked in with organisers. Mundesley lifeboat launched into the darkness and along with Happisburgh Lifeboat and Happisburgh ILB searched the area. After an hour searching all runners were accounted for and search teams stood down.

 Dingy in Trouble at Mundesley 18th September
ILB was paged at 02:48  to a report of a dingy in trouble off Mundesley with 1 POB. After 3 hours of searching in conjunction with Happisburgh and Mundesley Coastguard, the search was called off and information was passed to the police for further investigation. 
Missing Male at Mundesley 12th July 2015
ILB tasked on exercise and subsequently the full team was paged to assist Norfolk Police with a missing male in the Mundesley area. ILB conducted a boat search from Overstrand to Happisburgh Cart Gap and an ILB search team around the beach and groynes from ILB station to Seagulls field Bacton.

Medical aid given to 2 cyclists 12th July 2015
On the way to training 3 crew gave first aid to 2 cyclists after a collision.
 
Broken down fishing vessel 11th July 2015
ILB crew observed a broken down vessel outside the lifeboat station. As the vessel was so close to coming ashore the crew made sure that the occupants rowed back to the beach safely.
 
Injured Casualty 10th July 2015
ILB crew assisted EEAS and coastguard personnel with an injured gentleman outside the lifeboat station. The casualty had sustained a head injury after a fall. The casualty was airlifted by Air ambulance Anglia 2.
 
Object in Water 28th June 2015
Whilst on exercise ILB was tasked by Humber Coastguard to an object spotted by Mundesley NCI off ILB station. Once on scene it was established that the object was a seal.
 
Para-glider Collided with Cliff 20th April 2015
Whilst on exercise, ILB spotted a para-glider that had collided with the cliff. ILB stood by until para-glider had self-rescued ok with no injuries.
 

Missing Person Search 28th November, 2014

Whilst preparing to launch on night time training, the Lifeboat was tasked by Humber Coastguard to carry out a shoreline search for a missing person. The Lifeboat assisted Coastguard Rescue teams from Mundesley, Happisburgh, Cromer and Sheringham together with Norfolk Police. The person was found safe and well in the local area after a short while and the Lifeboat returned to its training mission. Sea conditions at the time were difficult due to poor visibility, moderate swell and the darkness. 
 
Broken Down Fishing Boat off Mundesley 31st October, 2014
Lifeboat was launched at 07-30hrs to assist the local fishing boat Silvia May approximately 3/4 mile off Mundesley. The boat was on its way out to haul crab pots when it suffered gearbox failure and was unable to make its way back to the beach. The 2 man crew were safe and well in a calm sea but strong tides and the size of the boat (21ft) made return to the beach impossible. The Lifeboat Crew took only a few minutes to rendezvous with the fishing boat and tow it back to shore. 
 
Report of Person Fallen on Cliff at Happisburgh 10th August, 2014
Whilst on Sunday morning training Lifeboat was requested by Humber Coastguard to investigate report of person fallen over the cliff near the Coastwatch lookout at Happisburgh. Carried out search with Mundesley and Happisburgh Coastguard Teams but nothing found. Returned to Mundesley to resume training. 

Medical Emergency at Walcott 26th June, 2014

 Mundesley Lifeboat was paged at 11-28hrs to assist with reports of unconscious man on Walcott sea-front. Once on scene assisted Mundesley and Happisburgh Coastguard Teams, Air Ambulance and Land Ambulance personnel to load casualty into the air ambulance for evacuation to Norfolk and Norwich hospital.

Surfboard Swept Out to Sea off Mundesley 22nd June, 2014

Mundesley Lifeboat was paged to a report from Mundesley coastwatch to a suspected surfboard swept out to sea. Once on scene MILB found that the object was a damaged crab pot marker. 
 

Broken Down Fishing Boat at Mundesley 21st June, 2014

Mundesley Lifeboat was paged to a broken down fishing boat 3/4 mile from Mundesley. MILB arrived on scene and managed to restart the engine. After escorting the vessel for a mile the engine gave up completely and Mundesley Lifeboat took the vessel under tow. After getting as far as Cromer, MILB passed the tow to Sheringham Lifeboat who towed as far as Wells and passed the tow to Wells Lifeboat to enter Wells Harbour.
 
Boat Stuck in Surf at Trimingham 25th May, 2014
 
Mundesley lifeboat was paged to a boat stuck in the surf at Trimingham. Mundesley lifeboat helped recover the boat onto its trailer using the recovery tractor with assistance from Mundesley and Happisburgh coastguards
 
Broken Down Fishing Boat at Mundesley 25th May, 2014
 
Whilst out training Mundesley lifeboat was flagged down by a fishing boat reporting complete loss of engine power. Mundesley lifeboat rigged a tow and towed the fishing boat back to Trimingham.
 
Investigation of Submerged Car at Trimingham 18th May, 2014
 
The lifeboat was tasked to a submerged car and tractor at Trimingham Slip floating with the tide. Stray ropes and equipment were secured and safety advice were given to members of the public due to the amount of diesel in the water. The car was left to be recovered at low tide.
 
Injured Dog Walker at Bacton December 25, 2013
The Lifeboat was launched at approximately 14-50hrs on the afternoon of Christmas Day. A lady walking her dog had fallen off the sea wall at Bacton and landed on the beach approximately 10 feet below. The Crew working in conjunction with Coastguards from Mundesley and Happisburgh together with Police officers assessed the ladies injuries on scene. She was then evacuated by sea back to Mundesley where she was treated in the warm and dry of the Lifeboat station by Ambulance Paramedics. The Lifeboat Crew then returned to celebrating Christmas
 
Walcott Flood Rescue December 6, 2013

 

One flood rescue team deployed to Walcott to attend briefing by HM Coastguard Sector Manager Tony Garbutt. Worked with Mundesley and Happisburgh Coastguard teams carrying out damage assessment of flooded areas of Walcott village also accompanying various specialists into flooded areas providing safety support.
Walcott Flood Rescue December 5, 2013
 
The 2 Mundesley Lifeboat flood rescue teams were deployed to Walcott this evening for several hours. Working alongside Coastguard teams from Mundesley and Happisburgh, together with Walcott's own flood wardens they were actively involved in rescuing and assisting many of the village residents cut off by the high tidal surge. During the frantic 2 hour period over high tide they received multiple taskings from the multi-agency Bronze Command located in the Lighthouse public house. The teams left the scene at approximately 23:30 hours and then returned to their Mundesley base to clean down and decontaminate equipment.
On arrival at their boathouse they found a scene of devastation. Severe cliff erosion had occured below the access track caused by the tide washing away the cliff base. The surface of the Crew's parking area had been washed off and the access slipway had also been damaged resulting in the Lifeboat being temporarily taken out of service.
They completed equipment wash down at approximately 01:00hrs.
 

 Injured casualty at bottom of cliff, 13th August 2013

MILB launched to assist Cromer Coastguard and the local police force with a casualty found at the bottom of a cliff, the lifeboat dropped off one crew member onto the beach and sat the boat just off the beach in case any extra assistance was needed. the ILB stayed until the casualty had been airlifted to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital by the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance then all units were stood down by Humber Coastguard.
 

Dingy blown out to sea off Cable Gap, 4th August 2013

 
MILB was contacted via VHF radio by Humber Coastguard who requested the lifeboat to immediately proceed to a dingy blown out to sea just off Bacton, the dingy was taken approximately half a mile out with one adult in the water and one child on board. The lifeboat picked up both casualties and took them back to the beach where Mundesley and Happisburgh Coastguard gave them sea safety advice.

MILB was tasked alongside Mundesley and Happisburgh Coastguard to a dingy blown out to sea just off Bacton, dingy was taken approximately 400m out with one person on board. The lifeboat brought the person back to shore safely and they were given sea safety advice by the coastguard.

Two missing divers July 13, 2013

Mundesley ILB was paged to reports of two missing divers after their dive boat had encountered engine problems. The ILB arrived on scene just as another dive boat had recovered the two divers. Both were safe and well. Cromer Lifeboat, Happisburgh Lifeboat and Seaking 125 had also been tasked.

Mundesley ILB was paged to reports of a swimmer in distress off Mundesley seafront. The ILB carried out an inshore search working in conjunction with Mundesley and Happisburgh Coastguard teams. Nothing was found. ILB was stood down by Humber Coastguard.

2 casualties in water with a dog May 31, 2013

Mundesley ILB was paged to reports of two casualties in the water at Bacton who had gone in after their dog.

The ILB proceeded but was stood down on route as they had all made their way out of the water.

Female threatening self harm May 31, 2013

Mundesley ILB was paged to reports of a female threatening self harm down by Mundesley Lifeboat station. The crew were put on standby as the Police and Coastguards investigated the call and decided it was a hoax.

Yacht with fuel issues May 05, 2013

Mundesley ILB was paged to reports of a yacht drifting with fuel issues.

ILB arrived on scene and the mechanic was transferred to the yacht. The fuel issues were soon resolved and the ILB stood off as the yacht got underway,

Safety Advice April 21, 2013

Mundesley ILB was on local area recognition when it was asked to rendevous with Happisburgh Coastguard team. There were reports of two persons being cut off by the tide on the reefs at Sea Palling.

Mundesley ILB offered safety advice and stood off as the casualties made their way to shore.

Casualty in water August 18, 2012

Mundesley ILB was paged to a casualty in the water 1/2 a mile Nth of lifeboat station.

The lifeboat launched and met lifeguards on scene, shortly followed by Mundesley and Happisburgh coastguard teams. The air ambulance and local first responders soon arrived and all efforts were made to bring the casualty round but were unfortunately unsuccessful.

Kayaker in difficulty August 18, 2012

Whilst on the above callout, the lifeboat was tasked to reports of a kayaker in difficulty off Bacton seafront. An extensive search was carried out but nothing was found.

The ILB and crew returned to assist.

Lady with broken ankle August 11, 2012

Members of Mundesley ILB assisted along with Happisburgh and Mundesley Coastguard teams to a lady with a broken ankle.

Due to high ambulance demand the lady had been waiting for two hours for a response.

The lady was taken to Norfolk and Norwich hospital for further treatment.

Reports of a dog in the water August 07, 2012

Mundesley Lifeboat was tasked to reports of a dog in trouble in the water off Bacton seafront.

ILB responded and carried out a comprehensive search of the area. No dogs or owners were found.

Mundesley Lifeboat returned to station.

Two males in difficulty July 22, 2012

Mundesley Lifeboat was tasked to reports of two males in difficulty off Bacton seafront.

ILB arrived on scene to find two casualties hanging on to a windsurf board after having swallowed sea water. ILB recovered casualties onboard and beached at Walcott seafront to meet Mundesley Coastguard and wait for a road ambulance to arrive.

Both of the casualties were taken to Norfolk and Norwich hospital for general observations and were released that night.

Reports of a cliff jumper June 20, 2012

Mundesley Lifeboat was tasked to reports of a male threatening to jump off the cliff.

ILB launched and sat off location whilst members of Norfolk police talked the male down.

All safe and well.

Vessel with difficulty launching June 10, 2012

Mundesley Lifeboat was on a training exercise and came across a speedboat that was having difficulties launching through the swell.

The vessel became water logged and ended up colliding with the groyne. Mundesley ILB beached and with other members of the crew and members of Bacton Coastguard recovered the vessel back onto the trailer.

All crews were safe and well.

Mundesley Lifeboat was tasked to assist a vessel that was struggling to get through the surf line.

The Lifeboat took all passengers to safety and transferred two members of ILB crew to the vessel who deployed the drogue and rowed the vessel in through the breaking swell.

Both vessel and crew were safe and well.

When on scene MILB found one casualty in the water who was quickly retrieved and returned to the beach. After liasing with Ministry Of Defence Police and HM Coastguards it was confirmed that all involved were safe and accounted for. East of England Ambulance Service conveyed all involved to James Paget Hospital for a routine check.
